Revive Your DIY lashes: How to Clean DIY Lashes for Reuse

We’ve all been there—you find that perfect lash map, the spikes are sitting just right, and you aren’t ready to say goodbye after just one wear. The good news? You don’t have to. If you are using high-quality DIY lashes like Lash Ribbons, they are built to be cleaned and reused.

While the curl might relax slightly over time or a fiber might go rogue, a solid cleaning routine keeps them looking fresh and hygienic. Here is the step-by-step breakdown to getting your lashes back to "like new" status.

1. The Gentle Removal

Before you can clean them, you have to get them off safely. If you have leftover adhesive on your natural lashes, Linx recommends using a cotton swab with a few drops of remover. Gently swipe up and around your natural lashes to dissolve the bond without tugging.

2. The Soaking Station

To break down the old glue and oils on the lash clusters themselves:

  • Place your used lash segments in a small bowl of 99% Isopropyl Alcohol,

  • Let them soak for a few minutes. This softens the adhesive "Dashes" or glue so they slide off the lash spine easily.

3. Deep Cleaning the Spine

Once soaked, use a pair of tweezers or a spoolie to gently pull away any remaining adhesive. The spine is durable, but you still want to be precise.

Pro Tip: Avoid pulling at the fine lash fibers; focus your attention strictly on the band where the glue sits.

4. Dry

After the glue is gone, lay them flat on a clean paper towel to air dry.

5. The Final Fluff

Once they are completely dry, use a clean mascara wand (spoolie) to brush through the fibers. This redistributes the volume and helps maintain that "salon-fresh" wispy look.

Why Bother Cleaning Them?

  • Sustainability: Less waste in the bin and more life out of your favorite styles.

  • Hygiene: Prevents eye irritation by removing old makeup and bacteria.

  • Customization: If you've already spent time "snipping" your ribbons into the perfect custom map, cleaning them lets you pop that exact look back on in half the time.
